I spent most of my early childhood years living in India with annual holidays back to the UK to visit grandparents. Even as a child I noticed that what was absolute truth in India was not in England & vice versa. This made me question these so called “ absolute truths”. I couldn’t just accept things to be truth just because that was the teaching of the time.
In 1990 I came to New Zealand to do a year of obstetrics. Seduced by not only the weather but also the amazing beauty I stayed & eventually bought into a practice in Nelson where I worked for the next twelve years. The question kept coming up about why some people got better and others didn't. This quest for answers drew me to study NLP & I became intrigued by the results that I started seeing.
My quest for answers drew me to study mind/body medicine and led me to NLP and hypnosis. Working with NLP & hypnosis for the last six years has convinced me of its value for personal change, be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. I now work part time as a GP see clients for private sessions & run "The Way Beyond Diets" & I do trainings & talks for private groups.

My toolbox contains a collection of different trainings from NLP, hypnosis, psychodrama, psychosynthesis , different counselling approaches plus my personal yoga & meditation practice. For six years I attended an annual Energy & Meditation School run by a Canadian woman . I spent time at an ashram in India learning about stillness & inner peace through meditation. All these experiences combined with my 30 years of training & working in medicine have given me an integrated way of working with people. Many modalities have their uses & their place. Sometimes it is essential to use an antibiotic & sometimes the most effective way is to work with the unconscious mind . The art of healing is to utilise different approaches & techniques & let the healing happen.

For years I have been fascinated by the power of the human mind. Four years ago I hit my head on a steel bar & had a concussion & I experienced "from the inside" many of the theories that I had read about..... For a year I couldn't read books or journals....I found myself begging professionals to give me answers but the answers I could find were so limited. I was forced to resort to exploring my own mind .... I learnt first hand about the plasticity of the mind & about how my memory worked. It was scary but it was also profound. Dr. Daniel Amen in his book "Change Your Mind Change Your Life" says "Your brain is the hardware of your soul. It is the hardware of your very essence as a human being.....How your brain works determines how happy you are, how effective you feel & how well you interact with others". I find many NLP techniques very useful & very clever . My passion is in hypnosis.
